The findings will be shared with National Digital Twin register and form part of the Defence knowledge base we are developing with the Centre for Digital Built Britain. For more details, please contact Steve Green.

DI21 Presentations and Feedback
We hope you enjoyed DI21 and benefitted from our fantastic presenters and trade stands over the two days. A special thanks go to all our Sponsors and the presenters from MOD and Industry for supporting the event and helping make it such a success. We have had permissions to publish a number of presentations which can be found here, click here to rewatch Day 1 or click here to rewatch Day 2. These recordings will be available to watch until the end of August when the events page will close; after that date only TD-Info members will be able to access the material here. We welcome all feedback and have created a Questionnaire, available by clicking here, which will be open for you to complete until Friday 6 August.
Team Defence Information AGM and Council Meeting
The TD-Info AGM and Council Meeting was held on 22 June. Minutes of the AGM are now available for TD-Info Members to view here. For further details please contact Will Tuohy.
Sustainable Defence Support Sub Working Group (SWG) Feedback
TD-Info recently hosted a Sustainable Defence Support SWG meeting attracting around 80 online attendees with representatives from over 40 different companies and the MOD. Presenters included Matt Johns (an independent consultant who has advised across the public and private sectors) and Maurice Dixon (the RAF Astra Sustainability Lead). Feedback following the SWG has been extremely positive, clearly highlighting the importance of the Sustainable Defence Support SWG and value to be gained from close partnerships across the whole defence community.
As an example, the MOD is now engaged with the Director of Sustainability at Bristol Airport and learning from their efforts and progress to reach carbon neutrality by 2022. In addition, Neal Palmer from Rolls Royce has been applying knowledge gained from the SWG to his work on the FCAS programme where he is developing support and services (Air) for the 2030-2050 timeframe. He and colleagues are also developing a new capability in their modelling toolset that provides a Sustainability viewpoint for operations and the more traditional supportability elements. If you would like more information or join the SWG please contact Steve Green.
Ethics in AI Conference
On 26 May, TD-Info and techUK collaboratively hosted the Ethics in AI Conference. Lord Tim Clement-Jones opened the virtual event which included presentations by keynote international speakers from the MOD, industry, and academia on how AI is currently being used in defence and the key ethical issues associated with its application. The recordings from the event are now available to access here. If you would like more information on this topic, please contact Luca Leone.
Podcast with Lord Deben - the Strategic Implications of a Low-Carbon Military
Megan Wright, Senior Editor at Longitude, recently conducted interviews with MOD and industry representatives to discuss “how the Ministry of Defence can take a long-term strategic approach to sustainability and what role will transformation play in enabling the military to deliver on its net zero targets?” She was joined by Lord Deben, Chairman of the UK’s Committee on Climate Change and former Secretary of State for the Environment, Major General David Southall, the Army’s Director of Basing and Infrastructure, and Howard Lungley, Principal Consultant and Sustainability Lead at Frazer-Nash. The podcast and supporting transcript are now available here.
