COVID-19 Update - Current social distancing means that remote working and ‘virtual’ on-line meetings are now very much the norm.

Our forthcoming Support Chain Digital Seminar 2020 (SCDS20) on 23-24 September will now be a ‘Virtual’ event to ensure the safety of all concerned and replaces the ‘face-to-face’ event previously planned. Defence organisations will also be able to exhibit ‘virtual’ Trade Stands throughout the event.

Support Chain Digital Seminar 2020 (SCDS20) – 23 and 24 September

We look forward to seeing you all at next month’s SCDS20 which provides the opportunity for ‘Team Defence’ members to meet virtually and discuss key initiatives, exchange information, and become engaged in collaborative MOD/Industry Working Groups.

This year’s theme is ‘Digital Support in Defence’ and will be delivered over 2 days:

Other Forthcoming Key Events - We have numerous events and activities scheduled for the forthcoming months. Please look for details on the TD-Info calendar here (note you will need to be registered and logged-in for full details).

On 7 Sep 2020, the Engineering Support Transformation User Forum (ESTUF) will be hosting a briefing to engage TD-Info member’s support and contribution to the development of a Digital Twin Roadmap. Details can be found here or by contacting Steve Green.

On 10 Sep 2020, the Forecast and Resource Planning Working Group (F&RPWG) meeting will be an open session. Following a very positive response to the recent survey to elicit the level of interest in the subject the Group will now become open to all to participate. The session will be an opportunity to hear about the MOD F&RP programme and how the Group is helping to deliver it. More details and the link to register to attend can be found here.

The MODCloud Programme will be providing an update on 15 Sep. This will be a virtual meeting using Microsoft Teams. Further information is available here or by contacting Andy Whatman or Will Tuohy.

After a successful first year, the JIG Vanguard (JIG-V) will be holding its Board Meeting on 2 Oct 2020 and providing the community with updates on activities. Details can be found here or by contacting Luca Leone.

Recent Events - A number of key Working Groups (WG) and notable team meetings have recently taken place:

The Cabinet Office recently invited members of the Defence Suppliers Forum to submit evidence that would inform the government’s Integrated Review. TD-Info has been coordinating input from its Members and developing a response to the “Call for Evidence”. If you would like to contribute to this collective response please contact Will Tuohy no later than Wed 9 Sep. Alternatively, you can respond directly to the Cabinet Office using the template available here before Fri 11 Sep.


MOD DE&S recently commissioned the Warehousing Distribution Optimisation (WDO) Project to survey 730 buildings across 141 sites and explore what solutions Industry might propose to provide a control tower style capability. On 13 Aug, Brigadier Lee Daley, D&ES Programme Director UK Supply Chain Modernisation, gave a briefing on the project objectives and how Industry can become engaged. Richard Puttick, Def Spt CIO/CTO, kindly gave TD-Info members a briefing on his new role, described the organisation, and outlined future strategy. It was a very informative session followed by questions and answers. For further information contact Steve Green.

Publications and White Papers

The Sustainable Defence Support Sub-Working Group (SDSp SWG) members recently produced a White Paper on Sustainable Defence Support. The Paper was sponsored by Capt Damian Exworthy (RN), Support Operations, Concepts and Force Development with included contributions from a wide variety of Industry experts. It will be used to inform a future concept primer and influence the Defence Support Sustainability Strategy. The Asset Management White Paper that was recently published by the ESTUF has been included in the August edition of Assets the magazine for the Institute of Asset Management, available to access here.

The Defence Digital Commercial Marketplace Digest is now produced weekly by the MOD’s Defence Digital Commercial Continuous Improvement Team and is made available to MOD ‘customers’ and industry Members on the TD-Info website. Forthcoming Events - Non Team Defence-Info - TD-Info often provides information on external events that may be of interest to MOD and Industry members.

Defence Science and Technology (Dstl) will be hosting its ZODIAC Awareness Day on 16 Sep 2020. This will be a virtual event describing how Project ZODIAC, core of the British Army’s future land ISTAR capability, will be fully networked and its products fully exploited across the Single Intelligence Environment and the Single Information Environment. This will form part of a Request For Information (RFI) from the ZODIAC project team to interested member companies with Expressions of Interest requested by 30 Sep 2020. Accessing documents and publications - To find these documents use the Search function (located at the top right of the TD-Info website Home screen) which will appear after you have signed-in to the TD-Info website.

To find all the documents published on our website from, say, March 1st, 2020 to now, edit the search parameters to your needs. In this case, edit the date Added On/After to 1 March 2020 and the Added On/Before to today’s date.
