Please complete Survey on Skype for Business (Microsoft Teams) to Assist TD-Info Project

Please use this link to complete the survey.

A current TD-Info member project - Skype for Business Industry Federation - would greatly value your input to a short online survey (15 questions) to help understand both the existing level of Skype (or Microsoft Teams) adoption, as well as the appetite to use this capability across organisations.

A key aim of this project is to enable companies to leverage the benefits of Skype for Business (Microsoft Teams), not just within an organisation, but across organisations, e.g. those working in a Supply Chain. To do this requries design and implementation of federation models to enable simplified, secure connectivity between organsations. Industry are progressing this work with the intent that the MOD will be able to join in the future

The project aims to increase the exploitation of Skype for Business functionality for virtual meetings, instant messaging and presence across Team Defence.

Within the constraints of security and legal compliance, the project aims to identify benefits from early implementations and set out a framework to simplify future implementations for member organisations.

One of the deliverables of the project is a survey of member intentions and requirements in relation to the use of Collaboration tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams, and we would be very grateful if you could spare some time to complete the survey.

The survey is open until Monday 18 May 2020 at 2300 hours.

What do we mean by Federation?

In the context of this project. federation is the ability to connect and communicate with Skype for Business (Microsoft Teams) users in other organisations. Federation is an agreement between organisations to connect using Skype for Business.

For example, Company X is federated with Company Y, where both are Skype for Business users. This means that users in both companise can:

  • Search for a contact (in both Company X and Y) in Skype for Business using their email address
  • View their contact card
  • Add a contact to theit contact groups and Favourites
  • Communicate with them via instant message or desktop video conferencing
