The BCS press release says, "Through BCS, individuals can benchmark their knowledge, competence and skills against IT industry standards using SFIAplus, the leading industry capability and skills framework. This provides a clear, independent recognition of credibility, commitment and value to both the individual and the MOD."
Charlie Forte, MOD CIO said: “To develop our digital and IT skill levels and help meet ambitious transformation targets, it is important that we invest in our people and embrace industry skills standards as a foundation to professional development. Working with the BCS is an integral part of this strategy and engenders a spirit of continuous improvement. Having access to accredited development opportunities, educational materials and a network of thought leaders is hugely beneficial and plays a significant role in our professional development tool kit. I commend all digital and IT specialists to embrace the development opportunities being offered.
The MOD landscape is evolving every day through the application of emerging digital technology. IT expertise is vital - particularly in the military environment where safety is key, and now more than ever, it’s essential that IT specialists have a way to demonstrate their professionalism and integrity.”
