Skype for Business Industry Federation JIG Project: create Industry-to-Industry Skype for Business

Many organisations have gained benefits from successful company-wide use of Skype for Business.  This project aims to demonstrate how the benefits can be extended across Team Defence, by creating Industry-to-Industry Skype federations.  (see note added below about retirement of Skype for Business in favour of Microsoft Teams; thanks to TD-Info member for highlighting this)

It will help increase exploitation of Skype for Business functionality such as virtual meetings, instant messaging and presence across the defence enterprise (aka 'Team Defence'), whilst ensuring necessary security and legal compliance.  Members will share in-house experience to develop a federated Skype for Business and create a framework or template to simplify and standardise future adoption and implementation.

TD-Info Industry members will use this JIG-supported project to set up a 'peer instance' of Skype for Business for Industry members and share the learning from this work amongst members, including the MOD, following the usual TD-Info principle of exploiting the 'shared know-how gained, a 'multipler' benefits from membership.

The notion is that the experience and expertise gained will provide a springboard to enable the MOD, when circumstanaces are right, to take advantage of a 'Team Defence' Skype for Business'.

The Case Approvals Pack (CAP) for this project is available HERE.

Invitations have been issued to participate in the kick-off session on 3rd September.  If you have not been contacted and are interested to know more, please email sean.conway@teamdefence.info.
