SUMMARY:Health Check of Defence Industrial Base
DESCRIPTION:Team Defence information is looking to run an exceptional workshop to support Defence Digital in the creation of a UK Health Check of Defence Industrial Base. The session will be run both virtually and physically\, if you would like to attend physically\, please click on the Register here button.  Please feel free to forward this to colleagues within your organisation that would have an interest in this session. \nPlease see the below introduction text from Dave Hawken who will be leading the session:Our Director for Industry and Exports\, Nick Toogood\, was recently made aware of a US Industrial Capabilities Report and has written out to the Industrial Segment leads in the MOD expressing a wish to create an equivalent for the UK. The Segments are those identified in the Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS) and my Segment of interest is the digital backbone. Since then\, the Defence Board and Ministers have expressed an interest and a task to produce a first draft by the end of July 2022 has been set with a publication date of December 2022. \nIn gathering data for the DSIS\, Team Defence-Information ran a successful workshop in Feb 20 to provide an industry perspective (unfortunately\, I cannot include the output as it has been marked as OFFICIAL-SENITIVE) and I would like to do something similar for this report as two years has elapsed\, and the analytic framework is different. In advance of the workshop\, I will have extracted the relevant information and included it against the area of the new analytic framework. \nI would like Team Defence-Information to hold a one-off\, one-day workshop at Briarlands for a qualitative look at the health of Defence’s Digital Industrial Base\, with a remote option\, where I can collect a broad range of industry’s views to inform the report. \nI will provide more detail before 30 May 22\, but the main areas are: \n\nThe Segment overview (description and characteristics)\nRisks and Issues faced by the Segment (a framework will be provided)\nDevelopments in the Segment (how the market is predicted to change\, forthcoming changes to policy or regulations\, any significant changes to MOD programmes)\nSegment outlook (growth projections\, emerging technologies\, strategies that will affect decision-making)\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nRegister here

SUMMARY:RAS API STRATEGY PAPER - CALL TO ACTION
DESCRIPTION:Aim.  The aim of this meeting is to outline our intention to develop a paper around Robotic & Autonomous Systems (RAS) Application Interface (API) and call for volunteers from across MOD\, Industry and Academia to form a collaborative task team. \nContext. For many years Defence has looked to adopt open and modular systems architectures to enabling technology insertion\, accelerating capability development and managing cost through access to commercial solutions. Today’s capability is becoming more digital and digitised in nature and therefore as part of the architectural approach there is a need to understand the potential for Application Interfaces (API). As part of the Expeditionary Robotics Centre of Expertise and Multi Domain Integration Programmes FCG want to investigate the potential of open APIs in enabling agile development and interoperability across its range of currently independent robotic systems. \nRequirements. This task will consider wider sector API strategies\, industry leading practices\, observations and lessons from Robot Dog Olympic Hackathon event and current architectural approach to RAS capability in Defence to make recommendations and potential call for action in adopting an API framework across its RAS capabilities. \nFormat: This event is virtual and will take place using MS Teams.  A link will be sent to all those who register \nDONM.  Task start up 31 August 22 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register
