DESCRIPTION:Aim. Ahead of registration for the main FCG OIL AdM Hack this launch and networking event will provide an overview of the hack that will take place on the 3 & 4 April 23 and networking to allow for collaborative teams to form. \nFormat.  Following a presentation outlining the approach a speed dating format will be used so that all attendees can pitch to each other about their capabilities and exchange contact details.  After the event teams will be invited to register to take part in the Additive hack on 3 & 4 Feb 2023 \nContext. Recent operations in Ukraine have identified that the industrial manufacturing base of a nation is critical to success of future operations.  DE&S’ focus is moving away from large procurements to operations and is dependent on putting UK PLC on a campaign footing while the Defence Supply Chain Strategy is looking to create resilience through multiple points of near shore suppliers.  The concept of global logistic hubs provides the opportunity for production closer to point of consumption reducing the carbon footprint of distribution while inter regional supply in a star network configuration increase resilience. \nIntent. Exploit and demonstrate mature Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) High Value Manufacturing\, Digital Engineering\, and Additive Manufacturing Capabilities and how they can contribute to the realisation of Support Advantage. \nObjectives.  Using a diverse and dispersed team reverse engineer a part so that it has the same fit but has reduced weight and or part count. Demonstrate: \n\n            Image capture\n            File transfer\n            Collaborative design \n            File conversion CAD to SWL\n            Additive production\n            Part reduction and or light weighting of an item\n\nNote: the part will not be assessed functional or from a safety certification and is ther fore only a protype not for use. \nWho Should Attend.   \n\nIndustry Attendees.  The hack event will be limited to ten teams.  Only a limited number from each team will be in teh i-bridge. Where safety critical and inspection fidelity is important then items are taken out of service\, retuned to base locations and are not available to operators for extended periods of time \nHypothesis\nThere are a range of digital inspection technologies that can be used to create digital master data\, conduct inspections (non-destructive testing) and condition a platform in a more accurate\, faster\, repeatable and efficient way.  This will reduce cost and increase availability of equipment. \nSituation\nThere are already some digital inspection use cases in EST however different frequencies provide different insights and there are limitations on speed and portability from hand-held to fixed infra full system scans. SUMMARY:Digital Decision Making to Reduce Supply Chain Risk and Improve Resilience
DESCRIPTION:The Integrated Review set out the Government’s current assessment of the major trends that will shape the national security and international environment to 2030[1]. \nIt described the changing nature and distribution of global power and a more competitive and multipolar world. Over the coming decade it identified overarching trends important to the UK and the changing international order: \n\nGeopolitical and economical shifts and the need to operate in 5 global regions\nConstant systemic competition\nRapid technological change\nChallenges requiring collective action\, such as climate change\, biosecurity risks\, terrorism and serious and organised crime\n\nIt is within this socio-economic\, climate changed world the Support Function must create Support Advantage and develop a resilient cost-conscious supply chain capability. \nAim \nThis event will explore ideas on how to exploit technological change and make better use of data to assure logistic support to a globally dispersed force. \nThe outputs and discussions will help develop MOD & Industry networks\, enhance collaboration and uncover new opportunities to shape future Defence Support capability. \nRegistration \nPlaces at the event are limited so please make sure you register.
