DESCRIPTION:Eleanor joined MOD in 2024 as Director Cyber Defence and is accountable for driving defensive cyber strategy\, capability development and defining policy and Defence-wide defensive cyber requirements and compliance including through the Defence industrial base. \nPrior to joining MOD\, Eleanor worked in a range of roles across the UK government and overseas. \nA generalist civil servant\, she pivoted on her intelligence assessment experience and joined the National Cyber Security Centre when it opened in 2016 and led work on strategic cyber threat assessment. SUMMARY:TD-Info Talks - In Conversation with Air Vice-Marshal Ange Baker
DESCRIPTION:After growing up in South East London\, Ange studied Economics and German at Leeds University and then joined the RAF as a logistics officer in 1996. \nHer early years were operationally focused\, undertaking tours in Kosovo\, Bosnia\, Iraq and Afghanistan\, serving in movements\, fuels and helicopter support roles. She gained a range of staff experience in Air Command and at the Permanent Joint Headquarters and commanded 44 Mobile Air Movements Squadron. She attended Advanced Command and Staff Course 12 and promoted to Wing Commander on completion in 2009 and was posted to an international engagement role in the MOD. \nFrom 2012-2014\, she commanded the Airport of Embarkation Wing at RAF Brize Norton\, during the redeployment from Afghanistan\, and then completed her final tour in rank as the Military Assistant to Director General Joint Force Development. As a Group Captain\, she was the logistics lead in Air Command for 3 years and then became the Air Commodities Team Leader within Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)\, prior to attending the Royal College of Defence Studies in 2020. \nShe promoted to Air Commodore in 2021 and became Head of Futures and the Defence Operational Energy Authority within Defence Support. In April 2024 she became Head of the Commissioning and Managing Organisation in DE&S (overseeing the Logistics\, Commodities and Services Transformation Programme). In June 2025 she was appointed as Principal Logistician\, a secondary duty as the RAF’s senior serving logistics officer. \nIn February 2026 Ange promoted to Air Vice-Marshal and assumed the position of Director Joint Support within the National Armaments Director Group. \n21st July 2026\, 1230-1330 \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nRegister here

Using STE means that documents such as user and technical manuals\, service checklists\, and emails with technical content are clear\, concise\, accurate and structured. \nHow does TD-Info support STE? \nThe current STE standard is issue 9\, published in January 2025. Click here to request the latest STE standard. The Simplified Technical English Maintenance Group (STEMG) maintains and updates the standard. The United Kingdom Support Team (STEST-UK) represents the UK on the STEMG\, negotiates changes to the specification and promotes STE. TD-Info sponsors the UK representative on the STEMG\, who is also the chair of the STEST-UK. \nThe current UK representative on the STEMG\, Ciaran Dodd\, has over 20 years of experience delivering STE training to organisations in aerospace\, defence\, and other major sectors\, all over the world.
