SUMMARY:Operational Energy Authority Industry Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Operational Energy Authority Industry Engagement  \nINSIGHT FUNCTION \n0930 -1500hrs 16 October 2024 \nGeneral \nThe Defence Operational Energy Strategy sets out the Ministry of Defence’s response to the energy transition – how we intend to safeguard and maximise operational advantage by making the right decisions at the right times. \nImplementation consists of 3 Response Phases: \n\n(2023-2025) – Laying the Foundations;\n(2026-2029) – Making Bold and Informed Energy Choices; and\n(2030 onwards) – Advantage.\n\nA Priority Actions in phase 1 is the development and distribution of meaningful energy insights to key strategic and capability decision-makers that will enable the right\, bold\, and informed decisions from this point forward. \nInternal MoD work to design an Energy Insights Function over the past several months has now reached the stage at which it is felt that exposing the thinking to Industry would be mutually beneficial.  \nAim & Objective  \nThe aim of this event is therefore to inform selected Industry partners/potential partners of the work to date and seek their advice on the concept and further development\, including in particular where Industry may be able to assist and advice on potential associated costs to inform future funding bids.  \nObjectives are: \n\nTo build awareness of the Energy Insights work and its broader context amongst partners/potential partners in the relevant sectors of Defence Industry;\nTo review and seek Industry’s feedback on the work to date;\nTo identify where Industrial partners/potential partners may have or be able to develop relevant required capabilities; and\nobtain Industry feedback/advice on likely associated costs (to inform future funding bids). \n\nWho Should Attend \nIn addiction to OEMs developing capabilities that will exploit a range of energy vectors we are looking for cross sector expertise in energy transition\, generation\, storage distribution and management as well as those with digital capabilities that could inform the insight function. There will be limited places and there for restricted to one person power organisation. \nFormat \nAttendance is in person only.  \nPresentation Material \nPresenters are requested to send their packs to the undersigned NLT COB 10 October 2024. \nFollowing the workshop PDF versions of material utilised will be available for public download from the Team Defence Information website. \nDress \nPlease dress comfortably military are requested to wear uniform.  \nRefreshments \nRefreshments and a light lunch will be provided.  \nAgenda \nThe agenda is as follows:  \n\n\n\nTime\nTopic\nOrganisation\nSpeaker\n\n\n0930-1000\nCoffee & Registration\n \n \n\n\n1000-1005\nWelcome and site safety\nHOST TBC\n \n\n\n1005-1010\nAims and Objectives\nOEA\nCdr Suzannah Curtis\n\n\n1010-1020\nOEA Context and Insight Operating Model\nOEA\nCdr Suzannah Curtis\n\n\n1020-1044\nCommercial Energy Management Solutions\nSchneider Electric\nTBC\n\n\n1045-1110\nPlatform Energy Decision and modelling\nDrive System Design\nRichard Dunn\n\n\n1110-1135\nEnergy Sector Insight and Activities\nUKRI\nJohn Ransford (built infrastructure and Simon Buckley (Heavy transport energy solutions)\n\n\n1135-1200\nHigh level Solution Architecture\nTBC\n \n\n\n1200-1245\nNetworking Lunch\n\n\n1245-1330\nSIPOC Peer review of Op Model\nALL\n\n\n1330-1415\nBrainstorm on Tech Solutions\nALL\n \n\n\n1415-1445\nPlenary Session\n \n \n\n\n1445-1500\nConclusion and Closing Remarks\nOEA\nCdr Suzannah Curtis\n\n\n1500\nDispersal\n\n\n\nTable 1 Proposed Agenda – subject to minor changes \nFuture Meetings \nAs the OEA implements the DOES we are establishing an Industry Advisory Group with a programme of targeted engagements.  \nWe are currently planning an OEA conference for early 2025.
