DESCRIPTION:Venue: Royal Engineers Museum\, Chatham \nThe Event: \nThe Institution of Royal Engineers and Team Defence Information are pleased to announce the “Operational Infrastructure and the Drive for Self-sustainment” conference on 26th/27th September at the Royal Engineers Museum\, Chatham which is the Present and Historic home of military engineering. \nThe Challenge: \nThe conference seeks to analyse and address solutions to adapt and mitigate operational infrastructure impacts in deployed environments\, focused on creating a low carbon\, self-sustained Defence capability\, providing operational freedoms and prolonged endurance enabled by sustainable design principles. \nThe Vision: \n“To be a deployable force that can operate in extreme climate change environments\, while showing sustainable leadership and best practise on a global stage.”\nSolution Focus:  \nThe conference will review alternative energy sources and distribution\, innovative materials and disruptive technologies/approaches focused on providing protection\, sanitation\, improve health and mental wellbeing\, facilitate both technical and domestic accommodation while embodying Defence social values to support and protect its most important asset\, its people. \nWho should attend: \nThis event aims to bring innovators\, designers\, technologists\, academics\, and environmentalists from across all sectors together with Defence personnel to explore solutions that can be applied today and drive the required change across Defence\, particularly if you have a focus on humanitarian\, theatre enabling or reconstruction. \nWhy attend: \nThe event seeks to identify how to turn concepts into capability\, pulling through and integrating processes\, practises\, and technology from across sectors to inform policy and procurement action; alongside enabling networking and professional discussion with key military personnel. \nFormat and registration: \nThe event will take place over the 26-27 Sept at the RE Museum Chatham\, with an optional  light buffet and drinks for networking on the evening of the 26 Sept 22.
