The Maritime Support Information Exploitation (MarSIX) vision is for an integrated suite of hardware agnostic services hosted on a single platform infrastructure that is open and provides assured and configurable information access at the point of use, afloat and ashore.

This Paper describes the MarSIX concept that brings together design principles of Defence Support Network (Information Services) with other guiding principles, the Common Support Model (CSM) Target Operating Model (TOM) and new capabilities such as New Style of IT Deployed (NSoITD) to provide a direction of travel to guide development of future Engineering Support information based capability.

Navy Command’s vision is for transformation of the RN’s Support Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) capability, focussed on the end user, and the introduction of a greatly improved Information Exploitation (IX) capability which will enable the future Fleet. It will provide the following benefits:

a. Reduction in overall safety risk .

b. Reduction in cost.

c. Increased platform availability.
