AFPST Everest Challenge
This news story has been archived
The Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST) is a military charity that exists to accelerate the recovery of wounded, injured or sick military personnel and veterans. We do this through the medium of performance alpine skiing, snowboarding and Nordic/biathlon, providing a winter sports focus for disabled athletes to regain their spirit of challenge and competition.
By participating we seek to offer you the opportunity to be inspired by hearing from some of our AFPST athletes talk about their journey. You will be encouraged and supported to challenge yourself in what will be a fun and memorable experience.
We are looking for 30-35 volunteers to sign-up and make a personal commitment to raising £300 individually. Participants require no previous climbing experience, all equipment and safety instruction will be provided. Please note, ALL of your fundraising goes directly to AFPST as the event costs have been kindly covered by Rob Demain at e2e Assure.
The collective goal is to climb 8,848m indoors. We estimate this will take from 10:00 - 15:00 to complete the challenge which equates to collectively climbing the wall indoors a total of 632 times.
When: Saturday 23rd June, 09:30 arrival for 10:00am start
Where: Calshot Activity Centre, Calshot, Southampton SO45 1BR
