Team Defence benefits from MOD ISS Customer at the Heart Workshop on SPOC services

The MOD Continual Service Improvement (CSI) staff and the MOD ISS Customer Services (Indirect Customers) team organised an excellent 'Customer at the Heart' workshop (at Corsham, April 2018) to review feedback from interviews made with 'Industry' users of the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) service, aka the Help Desk. The group included stakeholders from: Indirect customers of ISS, the SPOC, ISS Customer Services, the CSI and MOD Supplier Performance. Using a Customer Journey map created from the interviews, the workshop tackled various questions to elicit further feedback and prioritise options for next steps to make improvements. Work is taking place under MOD's Continuous Service Improvement governance process.  more

Meet the nine finalists competing for the TD-Info 2018 Excellence Awards. They each have a stand as part of the Good Practice Market Place at Defence Information 2018 on 18/19 April. Delegates using the DI'18 App will be able to vote for the entry they think should be awarded the 2018 Excellence Award. However, a panel of independent judges will make their own assessments and have the final say. You can download a summary for each of the entries on our website.

MOD ISS ‘interviews’ Industry as part of Customer at the Heart (CATH) Project

Information Systems and Services (ISS) are conducting visits to interview some of its ‘Indirect Customers’, i.e. non-MOD customers, which includes Industry. This is to understand better the ‘customer journeys’ when using the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) service; to identify the touch points, pinch points, missing points of contact etc. This understanding will inform what remedial actions are appropriate as aprt of Continual Service Improvement (CSI). Such improvements in quality of service and first-time-fix rates ultimately filter through to benefit defence operations, so are important for all.  more

Meltdown & Spectre - Processor security flaws

Meltdown allows hackers to bypass hardware barriers, while Spectre can be used to trick applications into giving up secret information. "The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said that there is no evidence that Meltdown and Spectre are actively being used to steal data at the moment, but the nature of the attacks make them difficult to detect.", according to an article in the Guardian.
